Three candidates have expressed their intentions to run for the Supreme Court of North Carolina seat currently occupied by Justice Cheri Beasley.  Under state election laws, the three candidates will compete in the primary election May 6, with the top two moving on to the general election in November.

Justice Beasley has held the seat since her appointment in December 2012 and will be running for the seat.  Judge Ola Lewis and Mike Robinson have also announced their intentions to run.

Today is the first day for candidates to officially file to run in the election, so there may be other seats that are contested this primary season.
